There are no visible cartouches or stock inspector’s markings in the usual places. A contributor on the trapdoor collector forum indicates that the flat-topped lock screws are probably from an older Springfield .58 caliber rifled musket. This rifle should have crowned screws and washers that are rounded on one side.
