Unconventional Rubythroat Pose

The stereotypical angle features an iridescent gorget, but I think these little birds are fascinating even without the flashy throat patch and I wanted this shot for the perch as well as the bird and background. It was a challenging exposure because the sun was high and hot on the background but the bird was lit only by a small patch of skylight through the tree canopy. Near St. Francisville, Louisiana in late August.
